5-Star Boutique Hotel in metropolitan area required hiring energetic, customer-oriented candidates who could represent the hotel's brand and make guests feel accommodated and welcome.
The hiring process involved a resume submission, a phone screen, an interview, and then a hiring decision. Recruiters would spend up to 20 minutes per applicant scheduling a phone screen. Because of its prominent brand, the hotel had a lot of applicants. However, 50% of the applicants did not call into their scheduled phone screen time, resulting in wasted recruiter time scheduling the interview and waiting for the applicant.
HR Avatar implemented a custom Virtual Video interview module leveraging questions from the existing phone screen interview. The Virtual Video Interview replaced the phone screen.
Applicants who completed the virtual interview were automatically advanced to the interview stage. Applicants could complete the interview on their own time. Recruiters were able to have saved video files of applicant responses to review and share with managers before the interviews.
Time to hire was reduced by 50%.
Qualified candidates could advance to the in-person interview without the delays of scheduling the initial phone screen, while the hotel group still incorporated the information they found most useful from the phone screen into the interview process.
Recruiters also saved time that was otherwise wasted on applicants who would have skipped the phone screen or had a scheduling conflict during the pre-scheduled time. information to help them make decisions about their commitment to the role responsibilities as well.
The CEO now requires that all applicants complete the assessment as part of the on-boarding process.
