Aldie, VA (May 2, 2019) - HR Avatar Pre-Employment Tests, a leading provider of online, simulation-based employment tests, is upgrading their Attitudes, Interests, and Motivations and Emotional Intelligence modules.
In 2018 HR Avatar conducted a comprehensive re-analysis of test response data for the components of our online job-specific assessments. The results of this analysis are published in the revised technical manual which is available upon request.
After performing additional research based on the study results, HR Avatar is rolling out an upgrade to the Attitudes, Interests, and Motivations and Emotional Intelligence modules to further improve their performance. In this change, small edits to the question content were implemented to improve test performance and the candidate experience. The numeric scoring and names for all affected competencies will not change and all scores are comparable to one another before and after the change.
HR Avatar also converted the five "normal" scales in which the green range is in the middle to "linear" scales in which the green is at the high end. This was a change in the color scheme only, and the numeric scores did not change. The reason for the change stems from the results of the 2018 analysis, several internal validation studies, and recent academic research, all of which indicate that these scales correlate more closely with job performance as linear scales. A side benefit of this change is that all scales are now consistent with one another, and it is easier to identify specific scales indicating strengths or potential challenges.
Did the tests change?
Minor text edits to items in the Attitudes, Interests and Motivation and Emotional Intelligence scales were made to help with clarification. A small number of items that were not adding value were removed, and a small number of items were added to improve the scales. We also updated the layout of the items to a slightly larger font size to improve user experience for applicants completing the assessments using mobile devices.
Did the scores change?
The numeric scoring did not change. If someone received a 75 before on a scale, they would receive a 75 after the change as well.
When will the upgrade take place?
For most of the assessments in English, the upgrade will take place the week of May 6, 2019.
What will the new linear scales look like?
A sample of the updated linear scale presentation is available below, with the green consistently on the high end.
